The AI Rundown by Lightscape Partners – 04/22/24

Boston Dynamics releases a new humanoid, Meta debuts Llama 3, and the US confirms a human vs AI dog fight.

Boston Dynamics

Good morning and welcome back to this week’s AI Rundown.

Last week in AI:

  • Boston Dynamics released new footage of their all-electric humanoid robot, Atlas, after retiring their 10-year-old hydraulic bot.

  • Meta releases Llama 3 in 8 billion and 70 billion parameter versions. The new models are the most powerful open-source models to date. Try it with Groq’s LPU-powered GroqChat here. Make sure to select a Llama 3 model.

  • The US Air Force confirmed a human vs AI dog fight that took place in September 2023. The fight highlights the ongoing initiative to develop AI solutions in the military. It’s currently unknown which pilot “won” the battle.

If you’d like a quick refresher on industry terms and the current landscape of AI, skip to the bottom.

Otherwise, let’s get into it.
